These are scripts written by us, with AI voices and made-up callers. They show a conversation, not a live customer or a completed booking.

Hear it as a plumber

Listen for the enquiry details and callback handover. This example does not make a diagnosis or arrange an emergency response.

  1. Caller

Hi, is that the plumber? My boiler's just cut out and there's no hot water.

  2. AI receptionist

Oh no, sorry to hear that. You're through to the assistant for the business. Can I grab your name, your postcode, and the best number to call you back on?

  3. Caller

Yeah, it's Dave, NG2, and this number's fine.

  4. AI receptionist

Thanks, Dave. I've marked this as urgent and passed it on with your details, so they'll call you back as soon as they're free.

Hear it as a hair salon

Listen for the questions before a booking. The slot is fictional; your own diary connection and booking rules are checked first.

  1. Caller

Hiya, can I book a cut and colour for Saturday morning?

  2. AI receptionist

Of course! Have you been to us before, and is there a stylist you'd like to see?

  3. Caller

    First time, so anyone's fine.

  4. AI receptionist

Lovely. There's a slot at ten on Saturday. Shall I book that in for you? I just need a name and a mobile number.

Hear it as a garage

Listen for the vehicle and preferred day. This is an example script, not a check of a real workshop diary.

  1. Caller

Hiya, do you do MOTs, and have you got anything this week?

  2. AI receptionist

We do, yes. What's the registration, and which days suit you?

  3. Caller

It's a 2019 Focus. Thursday or Friday, ideally.

  4. AI receptionist

Thursday at half eight is free. I'll book it in and send the details to the workshop. Can I take a name and number?

Hear it as a cafe

Listen for the party size and practical requirements. Table availability and confirmations depend on an agreed booking setup.

  1. Caller

Hi, are you open on bank holiday Monday? And can I book a table for six?

  2. AI receptionist

We are, and yes, of course. What time would you like, and is there anything the kitchen should know, like allergies or a pushchair?

  3. Caller

Half twelve, and one high chair, please.

  4. AI receptionist

Done. A table for six at half twelve, with a high chair. Can I take a name and number for the booking?

It starts with
your sort of call.

I’m Garreth. I set up the receptionist using your business information and the rules we agree. The useful question is what you want to happen when you cannot pick up.

While you’re busy

Choose the calls you want help with, during the working day or outside your opening hours.

Plan your call cover

On your existing number

We check the phone provider, forwarding options and charges before changing the route.

See how forwarding works

With a useful next step

An enquiry, a supported booking or a request for you to confirm. The route depends on your business and systems.

Plan the handover

We work out
the rules together.

Bring the calls you get now, the number you use and where you want the details to go. I’ll explain what the setup can do.

How the setup works
  1. Agree what it should handle.

The greeting, useful questions, business information and anything that needs you.

  2. Check the route and connections.

Your phone, any diary connection, where summaries go and the fallback if something cannot complete.

  3. Try it before switching calls.

Use made-up enquiries to check the conversation and handover, including the awkward questions.

    What to prepare

Put the allowance in writing.

The quote confirms setup, included calls or minutes, how usage is counted and what extra usage costs. Phone-provider charges and any additional connections are identified.

You can then decide whether the arrangement fits your calls. The examples here do not represent an unlimited plan or a tested connection to your diary.

More about the service
Can I try it before deciding?

Yes. Play one of the scripted examples here, or ring +44 7418 374 570 to speak to the receptionist answering for Flying Penguin. The examples use made-up callers. The phone line is a live conversation about our own business.

What does it cost?

The managed service starts from £99.95 a month. Your written quote confirms setup, the call allowance, additional usage and any connections or separate work. We do not currently charge VAT.

Can I keep my business number?

We check your current phone service. Forwarding unanswered calls or calls outside your hours may let you keep the number customers know. The provider’s forwarding options and charges need checking first.

Can it book into my diary?

That depends on your booking system and the connection available. We check it first. Where direct booking is unsuitable, it can collect a request for you to confirm. Services, appointment lengths, hours and changes need clear rules.

What if someone asks a question it cannot answer?

We agree what it can answer and what needs passing to a person. It should tell the caller when something needs checking. Transfers, notifications and the fallback route are agreed for your phone setup.

when your phone rings?
